Thinking About Starting Therapy? Let’s Talk About It.
July 7, 2025

If You’ve Ever Googled ‘Do I Need Therapy?’ at 2AM… This One’s for You.

A woman is sitting on a couch with a laptop and a cup of coffee.

So… you’re considering therapy. Or maybe you’ve been staring at a therapist’s website for a while, tabs open, wondering if now is the time. (Yes, we see you. No judgment. That’s a very real part of the process.)

Here’s the thing: starting therapy can feel like a Big Deal, because it is. Not in a pressure-filled or dramatic way. More like, you’re about to do something really brave, even if you’re sweating a little.

It’s Normal to Be Unsure (Or Have a Mild Existential Crisis)

You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need to know what to say in your first session. You don’t even need to be totally sold on the idea of therapy.

Maybe you’re thinking:

  • “What if I cry the whole time?”
  • “What if I don’t cry at all?”
  • “What if my therapist sees how weird my brain is?”

Spoiler: We welcome your tears, your dryness, and your beautifully weird brain. Promise.

We’re Not Going to Throw You in the Deep End

One of the biggest myths about therapy is that you have to pour out your entire life story in the first session. Nope. Not here.

At The Crossroads Therapy, we move at the pace of safety. If your nervous system wants to dip a toe in the water first, we honor that. You’re not here to be fixed. You’re here to be supported, at a pace that actually feels doable. No Olympic-level emotional gymnastics required.

Your Coping Isn’t a Character Flaw

You’ve been doing what you needed to get through. Freezing, overthinking, shutting down, people-pleasing—these are not random flaws. They are actually your body’s way of trying to help.

We’re not here to judge or correct you. We’re here to get curious with you about what’s been going on underneath it all, and to help you build more space to breathe, feel, and be.

Therapy Is a Space to Exhale

We won’t pretend therapy is all rainbows and breakthroughs. Sometimes it’s just… sitting with your stuff. Saying things out loud. Having someone witness your truth without flinching.

And weirdly, that can change everything.

So if you’re inching toward the idea of therapy, maybe nervously, maybe skeptically, maybe with a half-laughed “why not?”, we’re here.

No pressure. No rush. Just a soft place to land when you’re ready.

With care,
The At The Crossroads Therapy Team
Support for change. Space to grow.
